Technology in Events 2022

Written by Visual Architects | Nov 11, 2021 12:22:14 PM

Events have become the testing grounds for the most advanced visual and sonic technology, as everything from robotic production to 3D holograms are being utilised on a small to large scale. With so many upcoming trends in event development, it’s easy to lose track of what advancements are going to make your show something no-one has seen before. Let’s go through a top-five list of what will make your event bang in 2022:

  1. Holographic Fans

Holographic fans are one of the newest and hottest innovations of the last decade. With the first pilot of the device in 2012, they are the new way of letting visuals animate your theme into 3D that until recently has only been used for large-scale marketing and events. Forming animated graphics that appear to move around a 3D space as if they were present in the building or on stage, these hologram fans produce an illusion of 3D objects floating in the air. They use strips of RGB LEDs attached to their blades and a control-unit which lights up the pixels as the fan turns around, producing a complete, moving image. The fast spinning fan becomes nearly invisible to the viewer, giving the projected object a transparent background. Any concept can be turned into an animated display, from moving objects in vivid colour to brand messaging.

Robotic Production

Robots are now in use to produce decor pieces with higher precision than ever, with articulated robots rotating on 6, 7 or even 10 axes. This cutting edge technology produces sculptures and features with accuracy unattainable through traditional production methods. Our 7-axis Kuka uses advanced robotic sculpting technology to turn any idea into life that is closer to reality than ever. Whether you have a design or need a new concept, we can build your sculptures, décor, prototypes, models, art or other installations to an unparalleled level of precision. Amaze your audience with a setting that has to be seen to be believed.

  1. 3D Mapped Visuals

3D mapped visuals have been around for a while at events, however advancements in Augmented Reality mapping are projecting designs directly onto 3D objects, creating mesmerising digital overlays that make objects appear to come alive. Designs can be projected onto complex industrial structures, building facades, stages and small objects. New software spatially maps a two- or three-dimensional object on the virtual program which mimics the real environment it is to be projected on. The software utilises a projector to fit any desired image onto the surface of that object. This technique is used by artists, event specialists and advertisers who can add extra dimensions, optical illusions, and animation onto previously static objects.

Advanced CNC Production

CNC routing services are becoming even more cost-effective to deliver print, art and design installations for your event installations. Each 2D feature is cut to an unparalleled level of accuracy, which is then finished to produce consistent, high quality decorations to any event design.

Utilising any material to deliver precise and elaborate detail at varying depths can transform installations, design projects, product development, corporate branding and signage.

Virtual Reality

The new space for project collaboration, Virtual Reality headsets bring together all project and event management teams to experience design concepts from a first person perspective. For the first time ever, we will can visualise design installations and settings at a human scale prior to the construction of an event design, which allows the customisation and adaption to perfectly fit everyone’s vision. VR provides an excellent platform for problem solving, and understanding where issues of a spatial or user movement nature may arise, which may not be as clear with standard design techniques. Designs can be switched within the same VR experience, which allows for a more direct comparison of concepts and the atmosphere of each setting. Features can no longer be misrepresented or misinterpreted, with the greatly superior communication presence of VR.
